We are the REM, Your Museum Without Walls, and we are looking for 2 summer students for 8 weeks of employment. This position is mainly remote but will require in-person meetings. The summer student will curate a small display based on items from the REM collection and Regina's stories, gain experience in collections management, and how to connect professionally with community members and respectfully tell their stories. This position pays $18/hr with 35-hour work weeks with flexible working hours.
The successful candidate will be responsible for researching collection artifacts, collecting stories through conducting local interviews, curating displays for our Story Stops Program, creating social media content, and assisting the program coordinator in a variety of tasks. We are looking for an individual with a passion for history, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively with museum staff and the public.
You will be just what we are looking for if you:
-Enjoy researching heritage topics of Regina and exploring artifacts in the REM collection.
-Love listening to storytellers and want to help conduct and transcribe interviews with Regina's storytellers.
-Develop displays for our Story Stop Programs.
-You are social media savvy. We have an amazing social media program and need assistance with content creation and analytics, as well as updating the website.
-Assist museum staff with Story Stops Programming.
Requirements as a Canada Summer Student:
The youth must be 15 years of age at the beginning of the employment period. The youth may be more than 30 years of age at the end of the employment period as long as the youth was 30 at the beginning of the employment period.
International students are not eligible participants.
