Description

The Treaty, Language, Culture Catalyst will provide expertise and support to the teachers and Principals in the member schools ensure that treaty education, Cree language, and culture/land-based programs, and curricula are implemented to maximize student learning experiences and increase the achievement of students.
Provide leadership and support through modeling and mentoring for teachers in planning, assessment and implementation of curriculum objectives and instructional approaches on treaty education outcomes and indicators. The role is to support staff rather than to evaluate staff. Research best practice and provide resources appropriate for implementation of treaty education curricula. To encourage and facilitate innovative and creative teaching practices and resources so
that concepts are taught in ways that are relevant to students. To enhance teacher learning and professional knowledge to facilitate changes in thinking and practices where necessary. In cooperation with the staff and Principal, organize the instructional treaty education
program of the school and provide leadership in the field of curriculum development while ensuring that provincial curriculum requirements are met.Engaged collaboratively in establishing school action plans, coordinating improvement activities, and evaluating school progress in relation to the school learning focus in treaty education. In cooperation with the Principal, coordinate the schedules, plan for in-servicing and facilitate support such as weekly meetings.Promote and encourage parental communication through family literacy programming to expand sharing the love of treaty education, language, and cultural/land-based activities.Experience in developing curriculum.Prepare cultural and land-based activities for students and teachers. Organizing cultural events and preparing traditional foods.Plan and teach cultural teachings.
