Description

Court Security provides security services as assigned within the Courts of Saskatchewan to ensure a safe and secure yet open environment for all users of court facilities.

As a Deputy Sheriff Supervisor you will be supervising a diverse group of deputy sheriffs. You will assign work to the deputy sheriffs and ensure it meets established performance standards.

As a Deputy Sheriff Supervisor, you will also be involved in resolving personnel matters.

As a Deputy Sheriff Supervisor, you are designated as a Peace Officer operating under the Criminal Code of Canada, the Court Officials Act, 2012, and the Court Security Act, 2007.

Prior to being hired to work as a Supervisor, any candidate not currently working as a Deputy Sheriff for the Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety, will be required to:

- produce a current certificate in Standard First Aid/CPR at the time of interview;
- produce a valid unrestricted class 5 driver's license at the time of interview;
- produce a driver abstract obtained within the previous 3 months which demonstrates a safe and responsible driving record, at the time of interview;
- successfully pass a psychological assessment based on the Minnesota Multi-phasic Personality Inventory-2 (MMPI-2); and
- successfully pass SOPAT (Sheriff Officer Physical Abilities Test) with an elapsed time of six (6) minutes or less.

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

- completion of firearms training according to the Provincial firearms standard applied to municipal police recruits, administered by firearms instructors certified by the Saskatchewan Police College;
- completion of self-defense training according to the standard of Pressure Point Control Tactics (PPCT); and
- completion of Deputy Sheriff Recruit Training or recognized equivalent training.
