Description

This position is funded by the Canada Summer Jobs grant and all applicants must be between the ages of 16 and 30 and legally entitled to work in Canada.  The Event Assistant will work with the Engagement Coordinator to create a memorable AGM, Conference, Trade Show, and Banquet. The Event Assistant will perform duties as directed by SFNWA staff, including procurement of sponsors, door prizes, and promotion of the event, in addition to engaging with First Nations youth and increasing their involvement in the conference. This role requires a highly organized, motivated, and resourceful individual who can effectively manage multiple projects while maintaining attention to detail. Education and Experience Requirements  
Some College/University in a related field is an asset, though not a prerequisite
Previous experience in event planning would be an asset
Some knowledge of membership recruitment strategies is an asset
Understanding and/or appreciation of an Indigenous world view
Valid drivers license and access to an insured automobile required

Coordinate with Event Coordinator in scheduling events within the conference calendar
Develop and implement a strategy for recruitment and engagement for youth participation in the conference  
Proficiency with appropriate software including Google Workspace and Microsoft SharePoint
Well developed communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively convey complex information to diverse audiences
Potential candidates will preferably identify as Indigenous or have Indigenous living experience, and/or a proven record of working well with Indigenous people. Experience with working with First Nations in Saskatchewan and/or demonstrating knowledge of issues related to First Nations drinking water and/or wastewater are assets that will be considered. Potential to be extended.
